Introduction
Hi. I am Dave and I would like to welcome you to my website. I am medically retired and I just love Parrots! It all started back in 1983 with a pair of Cockatiels and 2 Budgies and it .....erm.....sort of.....grew from there, really!
Over time we have learned a lot about parrots and have made some mistakes along the way. Companion Parrots are just that! Companion Birds. They need company and when we were both working we found it unfair to keep to them. Some birds we had to pass on because we were out too much include:- Bobbie the Blue Fronted Amazon; Dexter, the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo; and Buster and Pancho who were both Umbrella Cockatoos. Buster was a cousin of the famous Cockatoo that used to accompany Johnny Morris in Animal Magic. Bobbie was my biggest regret - I never really got over passing him on.
Still, as I said we have learned a lot and come a long way since then to the present when we have 19 Parrots and 3 large Aviaries. Being retired I can now spend the time with the birds that they demand. I must be honest here and say that Stacey, my daughter, has taken over the 3 Aviaries and she breeds Budgies and Cockatiels in them. Now we have a third aviary for breeding - watch this space! The third aviary now has a pair of Ringnecks - a cobalt and a turquoise.
I have recently decided that, because my birds give me so much pleasure and enjoyment I would like to give something back. As a result of this I have "rescued" several Parrots off my own bat, including:- Phoebe, Jasper, Ollie, Joza, Molly & Mango, Bobbie & Little Miss. I really feel I can give these unfortunate parrots a better home. I have also fostered Dolly from Birdline. Watch the Birds section for details and updates and keep checking Kenny's Blog!!!
Although based mainly on the Parrots, I have added sections on:- The rest of the family (the human family that is!), The Cats, The Fish and a section on Parrot Tails (Parrot tales!) which features the 2 holidaying articles I had published in Parrots Magazine plus other interesting articles.
Please click on the headings for an overview and some pictures and then the individual names from the drop-down lists for more detailed information about each family member. I hope you enjoy exploring my website.
