On Monday I went with Mum & Dad on the bus to Chippenham to bank the money. I have been on a bus before but not for ages but it all came back to me pretty quickly and once Dad realised that there was a sign in the window that I needed to see above, everything was fine. The ladies in the bank are always pleased to see me; in fact I caused quite a stir with some of the customers! We had a wander around town including going in several Charity Shops to try to find Dad some more “Bird Shirts”. Now what is a “bird shirt” I hear you ask? Well I have a bit of a naughty habit. I love preening Dad’s chest hairs but when I’ve had enough I move on to chewing his shirts. I make a good job of some of them! Well I’ve got lots of bare patches so I make sure Dad has lots of bare patches in his shirts – Simples! Obviously, after a while they need replacing but on this occasion we were unlucky!
On Tuesday we went out again. Dad had to go to Radstock so we went on to Wells and had a look around. We did the same bird shirt search as yesterday but then we went to the Bishop’s Palace and the Cathedral I’ve never been to Wells before but it’s a really interesting place and very attractive. It also had an extra hazard for Dad’s wheelchair too. Down the edges of the roads is a gulley with water running. The reason is a series of cold water springs and Wells is well known for it. Fortunately, there are metal plates bridging the gulleys for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
The rest of the week is going to be quite busy for me as we have another show to do in Marlborough (our last for this year) on Saturday and from Sunday we are going on holiday to Ringwood for a week! I know what you are thinking but Dad is calling it a working holiday as he has several Birdline duties to do as he doesn’t get down to Hampshire or Dorset as much as he would like due to the distance. Well that’s his story and he’s sticking to it! I’ll write again after our holiday!
