Well I call it a hospital visit but it was really an emergency visit to Great Western Exotics! Last wednesday night, Dad came to get us out as usual and noticed whilst holding me, that his hand was covered in blood. You see while I was climbing around my cage before stepping onto Dad, Dolly, in the adjoining cage, had bitten my foot in a jealous moment. On closer examination my toe nail and my last metatarsal were hanging off. Dad and Stacey took me straight down to her vets where Stacey cut off the flapping skin but still it wouldn't stop bleeding! Stacey tried her best with a Silver Nitrate Pen and Keltostat but to no avail so the other nurse phoned Great Western Exotics and told them we were on our way and we made a quick dash up to Swindon. When we got there we were seen by Mikel Sabater. He also tried Keltostat but then decided that it needed stitching under GA. Stacey stayed with me the whole time which was nice and she was with me when I came round. I was given a course of Meloxicam and Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim and we went home arriving after midnight. I was put in a hospial cage which was placed beside Sydney's cage and Sydney came straight down to see me, bless her. On Friday evening Mikel rang to see how I was and told Dad that Stacey could take the stitches out in 10 days time. I am definitely not looking forward to that! it was very sore but Mikel told Stacey to take the bandage off the following day if I left it alone as it would heal better in the open. I left it alone though it was still sore for a few days but after a few days I started putting weight on it and using my foot normally. I am still in the hospial cage but each evening Dad gets me and Sydney out together. We sit closely together and preen each other's feathers which is really nice. He gets Dolly and Ollie out as well as we are still friends but although Olie comes up onto the Java stand to see me, Dolly stays on the chair with Dad. Well my toe is a lot better now and Dad has even seen me climbing around my hospital cage but he says I am to stay in it until I have finished my medication and then I can go back and join Syd. Meanwhile the hospital cage stays beside Syd's cage so we can see each other and talk
