Boots
Boots is our last and youngest cat. He was born around 2005-2006. He came to us after our Stacey fell in love with him as a stray from work. He is a Ragdoll X Birman. Before he came to us, he was involved in a nasty road accident and if it wasn't for the help of the RSPCA funding his "reconstruction" op, he would not be with us today. He came to the vets with a Fractured Pelvis, Fractured Tibia/Fibula, Dislocated Hip joint, Bladder herniated down inside of hind leg and a magotty wound on his other hock. Before his op and any pain relief, he was still walking around the kennels wanting love, love and more love. Nothing was going to stop this cat! The nurses named him DuBarry but we opted to name him the simpler Boots. Like the toy, Ragdolls, as soon as you pick him up, he just flops! He will even let Stacey clean his teeth!!!
One evening Boots took a shine to my slippers! I don't know what attracted him to them but there was NO Catnip in there - just foot odour!!!
A sad goodbye.
Throughout 2022 and 2023 Boots really started to show his age. Apart from arthritus which was expected from his serious injuries when we first took him on; he also started suffering with high blood pressure causing him to lose his sight from detached retinas. At 20 years old and with his breed mixes we were very blessed that nothing else was going on.
In October 2023 Boots very quickly deteriorated to such an extent that we knew he was really struggling with every day life. He also went into end-stage Renal failure and the kindest decision was made to have him put to sleep.
