Safehouse Bird 06 - Chaz
Today, 25/02/2012, we collected Safehouse Bird 06 - Chaz. Chaz is an 8 year old Congo African Grey. We collected it from Jade who has owned Chaz for 4 years. When she first has Chaz, he was a feather biter and he still is. He doesn't pluck them, just bites them a bit so he is fluffy! It took Jade and her partner 6 months before they could handle Chaz and I was a bit worried as he bit me straight away and drew blood but I needn't have worried at all. When we got him home he still bit lightly a little as I opened the carrier but he soon climbed on top and, once on top, he stepped up as good as gold to be carried into the other room where his cage was. I have a good feeling about Chaz! Jade is rehoming him as he is out of his cage all day and she also has a young baby who will shortly be crawling around the floor all day too, and Jade is a bit worried about how they will interact. Also, she is moving soon so now seemed a good time to rehome him. He is not al all scared and seems to take everything in his stride. He did come with his cage and toys so has some familiarity around him which is a good thing to minimise his stress. Chaz doesn't seem to favour either sex and was fine with both Jade and her partner. I have to say, Jade is one of the better parrot carers. She really cares what happens to Chaz and it broke her heart to see him go. Chaz will be much loved while he is safehoused with me and I am sure Birdline will find a good forever home for him. In the meantime I am very happy to have him here!
