Oki & Doki
Oki and Doki are Green Cheeked Conures and were re-homed from Liverpool. Doki has come slightly plucked on her chest area and is a little more nervous of people than Oki. We believe one of them is a female as they have started showing nesting behaviour. We have not had them DNA sexed so have no confirmation as to what they actually are but we believe Oki is a male and Doki a female. Oki is a bit over 14 years old and Doki is even older, actual ages are not known but they are living out retirement with us. Both Oki and Doki live together in the same cage and cuddle up at night time (When they are not nest making!) and sleep propping each other up! Once they have stopped nesting and LittleMiss has also stopped being broody, the plan is to introduce them together into the large cage which Little Miss currently lives in.
Oki passes away - RIP
At the beginning of July 2015, Oki lost the battle with her liver disease and passed away. She had come to us as an older bird who had been fed for many years on a high Sunflower Seed diet and this caused Hepatic Lipidosis (Fatty Liver Disease). She had been fighting this for the last 2 years with medication and had many ups and downs. Sadly, in July, the damage to her liver became too much for her to cope with and the hard decision was made to say Goodbye.
Doki now lives alone though still in the flock of smaller birds and maintains her medication for her Fatty Liver Disease and still fights on! We are being realistic when we say her days are numbered but she is a good fighter and continues to live a good life.
