Stacey
Stacey is my Daughter. She works at a local vets as a Veterinary Nurse and is looking into specialising in Avian and Exotic Veterinary Nursing in the future. She is a regular member of St John Ambulance in her spare time. Her main hobbies are Needlework and anything avian! She looks after all the parrots with me and is responsible for our 3 aviaries and the birds which are breeding. She also works to tame the young, post fledging.
She is currently training Oscar and Magic to perform tricks (Although Magic has other ideas!). Currently Oscar will Step up, Wave, Ride a car (And always jumps off at my seat!), plays dead, hangs upside down. She is currenlty teaching him to put coloured hoops on the relevent coloured posts. Magic knows how to step up, play dead and is learning how to wave and ride on his car.
In October 2011 Stacey jumped out of an aircraft at 12000 feet, free-fell 6000 feet and was then gently taken to the ground by her instructor and a parachute. Personally I would have waited for the aircraft to land before getting out but there we go! Stacey was really excited about doing it and afterwards said it was such an incredible experience. She wasn't at all nervous and raised loads of money for The Cinnamon Trust.

Stacey Qualifies!
In March 2012 Stacey passed her exams to be a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. She has now gone on to study for her Avian & Exotics qualification which is doing by correspondence course. This is a very heavy course needing 2 hours minimum study each day. Although it is hard work, Stacey is determined and will, I am sure, do well.
Since Moving
Since moving, Stacey has had to give up her aviaries. She was very sad about this but with a smaller garden it wasn't right for the neighbours. We found loving homes for all the birds we had in them with most staying locally and some going to friends. It just wouldn't be right to the neighbours to move and give them the parakeet dawn chorus every morning, especially in the summer, right outside their back doors! Before we moved, the garden was long and it was as directly outside the houses there. This does however, give her more space to develope her love to garden and she is continually growing new veg in pots throughout the garden for us to enjoy and also, for the birds to enjoy!
Stacey's Education continues
Since Qualifying, stacey has taken it upon herself to continue studying. She completed her exotic Certificate in 2013 and then went on to study for Animal behaviour and is currently up to her Level 5 qualification!! Long term she is hoping to combine being a Clinical Animal behaviourist with a Registered Veterinary Nurse but she has to do a little more studying to earn the Behaviourist role - But she is determined to do it!
She has also in 2023 completed her nutrition certificate which allows her to help patients (both sick and well) in a holistic way to aid their recovery the best she can. This is her driving force and passion within the nursing industry and she is very proud to be supporting her patients in this way.

Stacey Lectures and Publishes!
Supporting alongside her studies, Stacey lectures for different companies as they invite her and she is also a keen article writer and reviewer for articles. It is very interesting in all she does and how she can put things together and educate so many people from simple to complex, from clinical to non-clinical and on so many different topics. I am sure this will continue as well.
