Sydney and Me on the train! Well on Tuesday we did indeed go to Topsham. We met several people who we have met before and had a really good time. We all love Topsham! In the afternoon we had lunch at Countess Weare and then took a walk along the canal and went to the Waterfront at Exeter Quay. It was really good and afterwards went to the pub (Yes! Another pub!!!) at Double Locks and had a coffee (yes! I promise you my parrents just had 2 coffees!). Wednesday we went to Torquay and Paignton on the train. Sydney and I love the train – there are loads of people who love to see us and we chatted all the way there! At Paignton we shared our Parrents Tuna Mayo Jacket Potato – it was scrumptious!!!. On Thursday we went to see Tony and Helen and, of course, the ducks! The Ducks looked thin but we are sure Tony will have them fattened up by Christmas (which brings me on to Phoebe’s Feathers. According to our spy at home she is doing very well with her feathers!). Friday was our day at Exmouth where we went to see some more old friends. They have pedestrianised the area outside Exmouth Market which looks really nice but the locals don’t like it cos they have lost parking spaces. We had a good time at Exmouth and even went to see the 2 Hahn’s Macaws who were responsible for our parrents getting Oscar last September. Unfortunately they weren’t there so our parrents have promised to take us there when we come back in May! On Saturday it rained so our parrents went to Trago Mills. Now we’re completely with Adam here – we hate Trago Mills so much that we persuaded our parrents to let us stay in our travel cage in the car for a siesta. Our parrents were really missing Phoebe and the other Fids so they bought some new toys for them. In the afternoon it was nice and sunny so we went back to Teignmouth. It was funny at Teignmouth because Sydney kept getting blown off our parrent’s shoulder (well it’s much harder to stay on a shoulder than a finger in the wind!!!). We went back to the pub on the beach and founds some Cuttlefish bone for the Fids in the aviaries back home who are busy laying eggs and feeding Daffy (the Cockatiel chick)!!! Well today is Sunday and we were home in time for lunch! Now all that remains is for us to tell all the other Fids about our time away!

Well, we're at MacDonalds for this free wi-fi thingy! I don't know what it is but my parrents say I can use it to do my blog. The journey down on Friday was uneventful and quite quick. Setting up was quick too as my parrents forgot the awning! Yes, I know - how on earth did they manage that! Well me and Sydney are pleased because we get to stay in the warm caravan and not in the cold awning! Saturday we stopped off at Starcross and then spent the rest of the day at Teignmouth. It was a beautiful day with unbroken sunshine and we even had a drink in a pub on the beach! Sunday we went to Dawlish. It was very cold with a bitter wind blowing and poor old Syd had a job to hold on. At Dawlish Warren our parrents managed to find another pub (I wonder if this holiday is going to be one long pub crawl!) I think its because our parrents spent last week-end in France! Today it is raining heavily so we are spending as much time as possible inside! Sydney and I are about to go into our travel cage for our Siesta when our parrents go to the Range (yuk! I'm with Adam here and I see absolutely no reason for going to the Range!!!) Well that's about all for now. I hope we'll go to Topsham tomorrow as we all love it there! See you later in the week!!!
....not a Summer's holiday you understand but still a holiday (we aren't fine weather holidaymakers - we live in the UK!!!). Yes tomorrow (Friday) afternoon we will set off for Devon with Sydney and me travelling as usual in the caravan (I'm glad this one has shock absorbers!!!). The weather forecast isn't too bad. It should be fine when we get there on Friday so our parrents can set everything up in the dry; heavy rain overnight which should clear by the time our parrents manage to haul themselves out of bed on Saturday morning!!! Then the rest of the week-end should be dry (which is good because I don't like rain, but my parrent has almost convinced me its no different to a shower so I'm not too bad now!!!). Well I doubt I shall have chance to update this when we're away unless our parrents go to MacDonalds for a coffee and free wi-fi (whatever that is!), so, watch this space!!!
We're all going on a Devon Holiday, Doing things we always wanted to, We're all going on a Devon holiday, and, yes the parrents come tooooooo!!! Today I learnt that my parrents have applied to rehome another Blue-fronted Amazon Parrot. I don't suppose I should be surprised really! I mustn't be angry or jealous because this Amazon is in a rehoming centre just waiting for a forever Parrent to take her on. My Parrent says that he is sure Me, Sydney, Tahla and Billie will all get along famously with Dotty (that's her name - if you ask me she must be Dotty to want to come here!!! - Only joking Dotty!). It's a long process and my parrent says we probably wont know for sure this side of Easter so, watch this space!!!
Well yesterday was Valentines Day and our parrents took Sydney and me to Shear Water for a trip out. It was a lovely morning in the warm sunshine although the wind was a bit chilly! I don't know how all those ducklings could stand the wind because they kept coming out of the water, wet, and playing in the cold wind! I sure am glad we weren't wet! In the afternoon our parrents went to visit some friends but as they have an excitable puppy we stayed in the car for a Siesta in our new travel cage (aka puppy cage!). It is nice being that much bigger and it means we can stay together! Next week Sydney and me are going to Devon on holiday with our parrents - yippee!!!
This sounds like a brilliant idea for Oscar & Magic! (Come to think of it, it's a pretty good idea for me & Sydney too! I think I'll sidle up to her tonight at bed‐time, preen her gently and then - pop the question!!!).
'Civil ceremony' in Derby for 'loved up' male parakeets Joey and Peter "start squawking" if separated A "civil partnership" ceremony is being held in Derby for two male parakeets "who love each other". Joey and Peter, two green conures, have become inseparable since being taken in by the RSPCA centre on Abbey Street. The romantic pair spend all day grooming each other and "tweeting sweet nothings". The St Valentine's ceremony is taking place to raise awareness of animals which have formed close bonds and need to be re‐homed in pairs. "They share the same cage and it's clear they love each other” said Andrea Walker, RSPCA Derby. Joey and Peter arrived separately at the centre about two months ago, according to the charity's Andrea Walker. She said: "We put their cages close together and any time we moved the cages away, they would start squawking incessantly until we brought them back together. "Now they share the same cage and it's clear they love each other. "It's quite unusual because this is a breed which doesn't particularly tend to bond." The ceremony is being carried out by two members of staff at the centre on Saturday afternoon. Other "paired" animals looking for homes include male and female cats Ozzy and Blink and two rabbit sisters named Salt and Pepper. Taken from BBC.co.uk/news 08/02/11 Well today my parrents got up early and went to Leicester to collect a new cage for Phoebe after an eBay win. It's kind of ....... very very large! I know Phoebe's a lot bigger than me and Sydney but does she really need such a big cage? It is truly a castle!!! She hasn't seen it yet but she's spending her first night in it tonight! Hmmm! Could be interesting! Well as long as she doesn't keep us all awake showing off I won't mind!
Well today our Parrent gave us all a shower! I love my shower and want to stay in for longer than I'm allowed but Sydney hates it! I'd have thought she would have got used to it by now but, No! She still hates it. We're talking about the human shower mind and it is a bit warm (just as well this winter weather!). She even hates the plant mister spray as well! Unusual, this as you know what those women are usually like!!! Well the others quite like their shower but today we had our new Fid, Phoebe to shower! OK, it was the first time she had ever been in the human shower but she hated it! What is it with the women in our family - so UNstereo-typical! What is more they both get in such a sulk! we are all offered treats after our shower but Sydney and Phoebe just refused to eat even their favourite treats! And Phoebe hadn't even had breakfast either! Well I know Sydney and Phoebe are going to be showered at least every week so they're gonna have to get used to it, aren't they?!!! Meanwhile, I will continue to really enjoy mine!
On a different note, it is cold and windy outside today so our parrents say we can't go out after having had a warm shower so there won't be much to report on today! PS Phoebe has still left her quills on her chest alone so she can't be all stupid!!! Dave & Stacey took me & Sydney out today. We put on our harnesses and walked down to the bus stop where we got on the Bath Bus. We love going on the bus and everyone is interested in us - it feels real good! In Bath we went to the canal where we were pleased to see a few Narrowboats chugging along. They stopped for a hot drink and Sydney and I shared a Chocolate Chip Cookie (our favourite biscuit - minus the chocolate chips of course cos they are bad for us!). Then we caught the bus back home again. Once we got off the bus we recognised where we were and we both got excited! Now we are back home having a nap before dinner! Well it is tiring in the fresh air - being carried about!
Fellow fid Phoebe has several new yellow quills on her chest. I expect she's cold!!! I hope she keeps them because she will look much prettier with a yellow chest (but don't tell Sydney I said that! She gets jealous if I talk about other females!!!)
